we are going to write our adventure story using the vocabularies from the book.
I hope it will be a kind of interesting and exciting experience. All of you
will take part as writes and be able to challenge yourselves enough. Break your
leg :^)
John Laslow, a neurobiologist from Luisiana, is appointed director of the University of Maine's campus health service. He moves to a large house near the small town of Burton with his wife Marianne, their two young children, Elizabeth and George, and Ellie's cat, Churchill. From the moment they arrive, the family runs into trouble: Bet hurt her palm falling on a rusty nail, and Geroge is stung by a large wasp. Their new neighbor, an elderly man named Robert Humph, comes to help. He disinfects Lizabeth's palm and bandages it. He also warns John and Marianne about the highway that runs past their house, it is frequented by large trucks.John and Robert quickly become close friends. Since John's father died when he was fivd, he sees Bob as a surrogate father. A few weeks after the Laslows move in, John takes the family on a walk in the woods behind their home.

It was rather unusual place with high trees, sometimes very tangled, so the sunlight could hardly reach the ground. Suddenly they heard barking nearby, and an old dirty dog ran out of the bushes. It started to run back and forth between them and the bushes, as if it was asking them to enter inside. The dog never stopped barking, so John and Marianne asked their children to go back home and followed the dog. While going deeper they ran into a strange place with trees arranged in a circle. Right in the center of it they saw a pile of fresh earth. The dog barked at the pile and started to dig it. They decided to help, so John went back home for shovel, but when he returned neither the dog nor his wife was there.

УдалитьJohn dropped the shovel and went home to call the police. The police started looking for Marianne. At first they started asking all of John's neighbors, but when they got to Robert's house and knocked on the door, no one answered. They searched for several days, but found no trace of John's wife. Robert was nowhere to be seen.Then John decided to start his own investigation, the children wanted to help him, and John could not refuse. They decided to search the courtyard of Robert's house because his disappearance was suspicious. They entered the yard, and John went behind the house and saw his shovel, which he had left in the woods... John was stunned. When they got home, it was evening, and John and the children were sitting at dinner, they saw a light come on in Robert's window. John left Elizabeth and George at home and ran to Robert's house.

Tears were already visible in his eyes, when he realized, that there wasn't aneone in Robert's house. He sat down on the sofa and started to cry. George cryied about four minutes, but he felt that like some hours. When he tryied not to cry once again, he heard a barking near in the forest. In that moment George ran away from Robert's house.

He heard some strange voices, but couldn't understand what were they talking about. The dog was still barking, so John continued going. Suddenly he saw a bright light. In the small glade there was a great bonfire and men dressed in black were standing around it. John realized that he didn't understand the language they were using. The dog was walking around them quietly. John armed with a branch and determinately moved to the strangers.

He rushed at the men with a branch, but they grabbed him and threw him to his wife. Strangers turned out to be local robbers. Robbers told them that they wonted to get much money.

After some time, the robbers putted this device on the floor and it turned into a creature. It went to all of stealled, then the creature told the robbers something with an unknown language. At that time John looked around and saw many people he knew: George's teacher, Elizabeth’s classmate's mother, and a salesman of under John’s home store. The robbers were very strange and didn’t take the people's phones. Because John was unlucky, the children who stayed at home and were afraid for dad decided to call their father. Hearing this sect came up John's telephone and dropped it in hole. Unexpected for all, some robbers removed the masks and people saw that they were aliens...
